Governing Rules

MMTA presents one joint Junior/Senior program yearly with two divisions:
| Grades 1-7 |
Junior Division |
| Grades 8-12 |
Senior Division |

All selections will be performed from memory with no music or prompting devices used for participating students.

Girls shall wear knee-length dresses. Boys shall wear coats.

All teachers will be limited to two performers, preferably one from the Junior Division and one from the Senior Division.

If a sonata is used, only one movement may be played.

All material performed must be from standard literature for the instrument. No arrangements or transcriptions will be allowed.

No substitutions shall be permitted after the submission deadline. However, in the event of duplication, the teachers involved will be notified and given the option to submit a second choice. If no second choices are available, duplications will be programmed.

A pre-performance waiting room will be reserved for contestants waiting to perform. After contestants have performed their piece they may wait in the recital hall or return to a post-performance room.

No one will be permitted to leave the hall until the program is concluded. Please inform your students and parents accordingly.

Programs will be printed for each performance with the contestant number and name along with the composition and composer's name. Patron's names will be included for the group they are sponsoring.
